Tripday 6: Utah's treasures

In the hustle and bustle of all that is camping, there could likely be a day of relaxing like a campion (get it, campion instead of champion??) And if you happen to be camping in Utah, you might wanna check yourself into a refreshing afternoon splashing around the peaceful Mill Creek. Seth and I heard about this unique wonder by chatting with a coworker during our time at Keystone this past winter. Being an outdoor enthusiast himself, and harnessing some remarkable knowledge about the Moab area, he let us in on the little "local" secret. Located on the outskirts of Moab, Mill Creek has a couple different easily accessible points! Directions to get there: To get to mill creek, start by being in Moab. From the downtown area, you'll go East on Center Street, and turn right on 400 East, then left at Mill Creek Dr. once you're on the beaten path of Mill Creek Dr, follow the curve of the road as it goes right, leading you to go straight onto Sand Flats Rd. The final turn you take will be a left onto Powerhouse lane, which brings you to a dirt parking lot/pull out area. And waaahla! You've made it to the delightful desert watering hole :) and don't forget to bring your adventure pup on this happy hike- it's a cooling retreat for everyone! If you're looking for a quick shower (which Seth and I took advantage of) or simply dying to cool off, the creek runs off to the left of the parking area, giving you the quickest access to the water! If you're wanting to experiment with some killer canyon cliff jumping, start by heading down the trail located towards the back of the parking area. A heads up, you'll have to walk across the creek of few times to get to the waterfalls. I recommend wearing shoes you don't mind getting wet to hike in, or be prepared to take your hiking shoes off. Other than that, it's a solid 20-30 minute stroll, so don't be afraid to have fun along the way and get after it! ________ This day gave us an incredible refresh as we prepared to part from Moab, and promptly travel to our next destination. Feeling a little stale as the morning's sun sang a gloomy note, we decided it best to recover from our intense week of hiking and get our sh*t together. In which we made our grocery list, planned what supplies we'd need to restock and monitor our use of, ensure Zen had plenty of food, as well as get some laundry done and have us our first shower since leaving Colorado! When it comes to showering on the road, we found it best to call recreation centers or bathhouses to see the cost and time limit, or fill up your own portable shower! It's also common for National Parks to have showers on the premises, you'll just have to talk to a park ranger for direct information. - After we'd felt in-control of moving forward, Seth, Zen and I met the gang down at the lovely watering hole. Sharing some of our final laughs and swinging effortlessly in our neon-colored ENO hammock, it was hard not to be anything but completely sentimental in that moment. Our time in Moab had opened our brains to an entirely new way of living -together- that we fell passionately in love with. Between the dirt, the strategic planning, and spending every waking hour outside- we had started falling into an imperfectly perfect sync. Appreciating what God (and any/all other mighty higher-powers of this universe) had gifted us with was as normal as it is to breath- the bellowing desert breeze swept us into a state of permanent gratitude. I still believe I'm forever floating in this state of mind from all we had discovered about ourselves individually and equally. Thank you Mother Nature💜
