The Three G's

Happy Monday ya babes!

I wanted to kick off this festive week with a blog containing a little something Mr.Seth and I came up with during our camping extravaganza. Trust me, when you decide halfway through your trip that you’re going to camp for at least 30 days, as well as conquer 10 different national parks, you get madly creative.

Therefore, I bring thee, The Three G’s: Gear, Grub, Gas.

These three little sly words basically sum up the essentials to a killer camping trip.

Gear, considering before you go camping, YOU NEED GEAR. Sure, you could go without gear, but you might experience some troubling moments.

These are my favorite items to research,             analyze, and contemplate if it’ll be durable enough. I’d have to say, a few of my favorites would be our candy corn colored Big Agnes, Big House Four Deluxe tent. Including our Big Agnes double wide sleeping pad we use, and Big Agnes Dream Island double sleeping bag. Those few incredible items keep us protected from the brutal elements, as well as keeping us mega cozy.

In later blogs, I want to make sure that The Three G’s is a regularly talked about subject, considering gear itself is a dreamy conversation piece!

2. Grub, alright peeps, listen up. This is where the immensely slick and creative side of you gets to really come out and play. Let’s not beat around the battered bush here- food is LIFE! Food is fuel, food is savory to our teeny tastebuds, food is -sigh- expensive. Or at least, so it can be. That’s why it’s important to grab your mates, buckle down, and talk about a grocery plan. First, decide what food is essential for

keeping you full and energized during the days activities. You’ll quickly pick up on how hungry you become once you’ve been camping for a few days, making it important to ponder what foods will help you maintain your energy level.

Second, it should be easily packable. This doesn’t mean you’re packing every meal, like the fluffy pancakes you’ll occasionally crave for breakfast. It means that if you’re going for a hike, don’t bring instant mash potatoes in a ziplock baggy (and yeah, this was totally one our of mates decisions when we hiked in Moab on what was probably the hottest day!) Okay, so you can totally do this.. but I can tell you from our goofy mates regretful statements on that sizzling, desert afternoon, it wasn’t his smartest move. Instead, try making your lunch along the same lines everyday-  a sandwhich, some vegetables, an apple or other fruit, crackers, a granola bar, water, the list is yours to pick! Make it effortless to stay on budget by keeping it smart!

3. Gas, here’s our final G. A good place to start is aiming for getting at LEAST a week and a half out of a tank of gas. I understand, some people travel in anything from custom made vans that get 16 mpg to much smaller vehicles that averages 30mpg these days, and in the end there’s still wise planning that needs to be done. How much gas one uses will depend upon not only the type of trip you’re doing, but also how long you can stay and explore in the same area. Regardless that it might sound blatant to say, gas requires a daily overview. Think about it, between the off roading you’ll do around the challenging forests, or merely driving those daunting 230mi to your next dialed in destination; it’s important to stay strict with it! Imagine the magical drive you may partake in as you arrive to Yosemite National Park in California. If you are unaware about how “scenic” the land is before you approach the park, and how much there is before you even enter the park, you’ll need to do some extra research, based on how long you’re staying, as well as how much driving will be done.

There you have it, folks. The Three G’s: Gear, Groceries, Gas.

As the blogs keep spiraling out, I’ll happily review our personal gear, share how we managed our grocery list, as well as how important it was for us to have enough fuel!

I’m always beyond appreciative of my readers, for you’re taking time from your day to read about these tales. THANK YOU! The overwhelming joy I experience from sharing my stories is endless. It’s motivating. It’s teaching me about myself in an entirely new perspective- like why didn’t I start a blog sooner?

XO,

Bug
